These tumors can appear as ulcerations of the mucous membranes with hard, rolled edges, or less commonly as protruding growths that look like small mushrooms. Specific symptoms depend on the location.
• Mouth and oral cavity: a swelling or ulcer that doesn't heal.
• Nose and sinuses: pain, swelling, bloody nasal discharge, nasal obstruction, double vision or chronic sinus
trouble that does not respond to antibiotics.
• Salivary glands: painless swelling and later paralysis of one side of the face.
• Oropharynx: difficulty or pain on swallowing and ear pain. May also have no symptoms.
• Hypopharynx: difficulty swallowing, ear pain and enlarged lymph nodes in the neck. May have no symptoms.
